In addition to the above programs, St. Patrick's School offers Band, Yearbook, Scouting (Scouts of America & Girls Scouts), SPS Playhouse (Drama), Competitive Athletics (BasketballVolleyball/Track & Field), and Soccer Club.
Film Club:
Students will watch thought-provoking films and discuss creative aspects of production (plot/storylines, acting, directing, screenwriting, cinematography, character arc, sub-genres, costume design, production design, film history and editing).
Samaritan House (Community Service):
Samaritan House is an ongoing community service initiative that affords middle school students the opportunity to give back to their local community and build character, broaden one’s spirituality and self-confidence and heighten students’ sense of purpose.
Readers in the Rye (Book & Poetry Club):
In this program, grade 8 students will examine the literary works of some of history’s most recognized literary and poetic voices. Students will examine fictional and poetic devices and immerse themselves in story and prose.
Book Club:
Students will take active roles in building their reading skills as they read books (both fiction and non-fiction) and learn about plot, main idea, setting, conflict, comparing and contrasting different stories and comprehension.
Craft Club: Join us for weeks of exploration, creativity, and amazing art and craft making! In this club, students will be learning so many new and fun ways to use everyday materials, art materials, and build a strong foundation of art making. Students will work on a new craft each week, to then be brought home.
Young Entrepreneurs (Entrepreneurship Program):
In this program, grade 8 students will build basic business acumen and learn vital skills needed for true entrepreneurship (critical thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, communication, creativity, financial literacy, time management, organization, etc). Students will: engage in a student-led hedge fund (St. Patrick’s Exchange), build and operate a business from scratch (SPS Blended – a student-led juice and smoothie bar – COVID restrictions permitting), and pitch innovative businesses ideas of their own (drafting a business plan, practicing their pitch for faux investors and presenting their pitch to their peers).
Pre-Law/Debate:
In this program, students will receive introductory instruction in criminal justice, law and sociology. Students will also illustrate their newfound knowledge by participating in mock-trials and thought-provoking debates.
Math Club:
Here, students will engage in challenging and fun-filled mathematical activities, build their computation skills and develop mathematical flexibility in solve problems and fostering mathematical creativity.
Chess Club:
This club will be hosted by Premier Chess. Premier is highly reputable, CYO sanctioned organization that serves a number of schools in the Archdiocese of NY. http://www.premierchess.com/
