Saint Patrick’s School is a non-discriminatory, Catholic, co-educational institution of learning for students in grades Pre-K3 through 8. The purpose of Saint Patrick’s School is to provide quality Catholic education to develop life-long learners in a God-centered atmosphere. Saint Patrick’s School acknowledges that a child’s development varies greatly from early childhood through adolescence; therefore academic and social needs should be met differently at each stage. The educational process, which begins with the parent, is enhanced by professional staff and faculty committed to the development of each student’s unique talents. In cooperation with families, we provide a total program of instruction based on the spiritual, academic, and physical needs of each child.
Our religious commitment is based on the concept that Christ is present in every person. Saint Patrick’s strives to enable students to live and act with Christian values and to develop a personal relationship with God. Children are provided with extensive opportunities to participate in Eucharistic liturgies and paraliturgical services, to serve others in the community, and to receive instruction in the doctrines and traditions of the Catholic faith.
The spiritual foundation offered at Saint Patrick’s School provides programs and role models that emphasize the importance of respect for the individual, appropriate social behavior, and Christian morals. Community service projects deepen the social conscience of the students and provide real life application of the religious principles learned in the classroom. Each child is encouraged to view himself/herself as an integral part of a Christ-like community. Working together on shared interests and goals fosters cooperation among peers and appreciation for the skills and talents of others. School spirit is enhanced by the sense of self-esteem and accomplishment, which comes from participation in meaningful activity. Within this framework, students are encouraged to explore their feelings and interpersonal relationships to develop a positive self-image.
The curriculum at Saint Patrick’s is based on the New York State Common Core Learning Standards and the Archdiocesan Essential Learnings Guidelines. We believe in the value of studying World Language and Culture, such as Spanish, to develop sophisticated and appreciative citizens. St. Patrick’s School also believes that a strong Visual and Performing Arts program is a vital part of the elementary curriculum because it promotes the key attributes of self-confidence and self-awareness. We fully believe that a strong Visual and Performing Arts curriculum is a key ingredient to success. Physically, students are encouraged to develop skills and habits that promote active and healthy lifestyles while emphasizing sportsmanship.
The span of developmental years from early childhood through adolescence provides an arena for endless possibilities of growth in all areas of childhood development. At Saint Patrick’s School, we are committed to giving our students every advantage possible as they grow and blossom intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually as children of God.
