A life-long New York City resident, Mr. John Amelio has spent most of his career as an educator; serving a multitude of roles at private, independent, and parochial institutions. Mr. Amelio attended Bernard M. Baruch College, in Manhattan, and completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Management. More recently, he completed his graduate studies at the American College of Education, obtaining a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. He holds a School Building Leader (SBL) License from the New York State Education Department and serves as an advisor to the Board of Trustees at Brooklyn Amity School.
As an instructor, Mr. Amelio designed curricula, instructed students in all core content areas, and oversaw the secondary-school exmissions process. During his time as an administrator, Mr. Amelio served as the Assistant Headmaster & Principal of Saint Albans School, in Manhattan, the Head of School & Principal of Brooklyn Amity School, in Sheepshead Bay, and, most recently, as the Principal of Nazareth Regional High School in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. He is thrilled to now serve St. Patrick’s School (and its school community) as its Principal.
Mr. Amelio is an avid film-aficionado, creative writer, and sports enthusiast. He comes from an extensive Italian-American family and takes prides in his relationships with his 12 siblings and 21 nieces and nephews.
